About

An amazing and highly stylized 1950's evening gown by the famous American designer Peggy Hunt. Starting in the 1930's through the early 1960's, she was immensely successful with her specialized cocktail and evening dresses. Her garments were often worn by Hollywood starlets such as Lucille Ball, Bette Davis, Lana Turner and Marlene Dietrich. Peggy Hunt is best known as the brilliant creator of what came to be called "The Illusion Neckline"- the masterful use of marquisette lace combined with appliqué layered over nude fabric to create a rather seductive effect. This captivating black rayon-crepe hourglass number is a perfect example of her genius. The silhouette is classic pin-up "femme fatale"; the skirt is deliciously lean! The bodice is an ultra alluring pleated-ruffle sheer illusion that continues to the backside. My favorite part is the bow trimmed velvet straps which help create that captivating off-shoulder design. You do not easily find this level of workmanship on garments today and this beauty is a timeless classic for any modern event!
